The Roblox gaming platform experienced a brief outage on Saturday, August 23, 2025. The first reports of the outage were made around 4:25 p.m. Finnish time, according to Downdetector. For most users, Roblox didn’t go down until 4:50 p.m. The number of reports peaked at over 80,000. This is one of the largest outages Roblox has experienced this year. Roblox noticed the outage around 5:02 p.m. and officially announced it on the status.roblox.com page.

Roblox resolved the issue approximately 40 minutes after the outage began.

What happened?

1. The Roblox gaming platform went down worldwide on August 23, 2025.

2. Roblox players around the world were kicked out of their games.

3. This was a global Roblox server outage.

4. The game also crashed for streamers, though some were able to reconnect to the server.

Official Confirmation

1. Roblox’s status page reported at approximately 5:02 p.m. Finnish time that it had detected an issue on its site.

2. According to the company, the issue was related to “joining experiences.”

3. After the initial fixes, some players were able to log back in, but the outage continued for many others for even longer.

Player Reactions

1. Downdetector saw a spike of over 89,000 reports.

2. Social media was flooded with posts saying “Roblox isn’t working” and “I can’t log in.”

3. Some players were able to get back in quickly, which partly indicated the nature of the problem—not all servers were down at the same time.

Duration and Scale

1. The outage lasted about an hour in total.

2. This was one of Roblox’s largest global outages since the massive, multi-day outage in 2021.

Current Status

1. Roblox has restored its servers, and games are running normally again.

2. The company has not yet disclosed the exact cause of the outage.

Some suspect that a massive simultaneous update to multiple games was the cause of the problem.

Some believe the outage was caused by Grow a Garden, Steal a Brainrot, and 99 Nights in the Forest all receiving updates at the same time. Grow a Garden has announced that the Version 1.20 update was released today on the Grow a Garden Wiki, Steal a Brainrot, on the other hand, states that “In the vibrant and often chaotic world of Roblox game development, a competitive spirit can spark innovation, community engagement, and plenty of drama.” The latest buzz centers on an epic
showdown between two popular tycoon-style games:
Sammy’s (@SpyderSammy)
*Steal a Brainrot* and Jandel’s (@jandelRblx). What began as accusations of idea theft has escalated into a full-blown “war of abuse,” in which both game developers will release massive
updates simultaneously on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. EST (4:30–5:00 p.m. Finnish time)
The goal? To see which game attracts more players to its own admin abuse events
, with charity bets on the line and fans choosing sides as if on a virtual battlefield.” Steal a Brainrot Wiki

From this, we can see that the Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot games have both received a massive update at the same time, which may be due to a global crash of the game platform. On the 99 Nights in the Forest Wiki page, we see that the “Frog Invasion” update was released yesterday (August 22, 2025) and the next update won’t be released for another 5 days.

Therefore, it can be inferred that Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot both received massive updates simultaneously, which may have been caused by the game platform’s outage. Roblox has not confirmed this.
